Question 1

How much does a wedding magician cost?

Accepted Answer

My packages start at £375, for 2 Hour Close Up Magic. Twilight Entertainment is £550 for four hours in the evening, with magic, the Magic Mirror and the Audio Guestbook. The All Day Magic Experience is £650 for five hours of magic, and The Full Wedding Package is £850 for five hours of magic, three hours of the Magic Mirror and the Audio Guestbook. Both of those can include a 30-minute children's magic show, for 10 or more children aged 3 to 8. Every package can also include a free 20-minute Parlour Magic & Mentalism Cabaret Show, and the show is £225 on its own for 30 minutes. The Magic Mirror is also £325 on its own, and you can add Mark's wedding disco to any package for £295.

Question 2

Where do you perform?

Accepted Answer

I am based near Chesterfield in Derbyshire and cover weddings across the UK. Most of them are within about 100 miles, across the Midlands and the North, including Nottingham, Sheffield, Leicester, Birmingham, Solihull and Manchester.

Question 3

Do you charge for travel?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, no: travel is included in my prices. Most of my weddings are within about 100 miles of Chesterfield, and if your venue is nearer the 100 miles, a little extra for fuel may be added. Send me your venue when you check your date and I will tell you in my reply, so there are no surprises.

Question 4

How does booking work?

Accepted Answer

Send me a booking request with your date and venue. I check the date and confirm by email, then you pay the deposit by bank transfer. Your booking is confirmed once the deposit is paid.

Question 5

Is my date reserved when I send the request?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. The form only asks me to check. Your date is booked once I have confirmed it with you and the deposit is paid by bank transfer, so please do not pay anything until you hear from me.

Question 6

When do I pay the deposit?

Accepted Answer

Only after I have confirmed your date. The deposit is £50 for 2 Hour Close Up Magic and £100 for everything else. I will email you my bank details at that point, and you can pay the rest at any time, including on the day.

Question 7

What if my date shows as booked?

Accepted Answer

Ring me or send a request anyway. If I am only booked for part of that day, I may still be able to perform at your wedding, and if I cannot, I will tell you straight away so you are not left waiting.

Question 8

Can I change the details after I send the form?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Reply to my email or ring me, and I will update your booking request.

Question 9

Can I see a trick before I book?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Ring or message me and I will perform a trick for you over the phone or on FaceTime, free. It is the main reason couples book me. If you would rather see the magic in person, we can also meet for a demo.

Question 10

What is the difference between a wedding magician and a mentalist?

Accepted Answer

A magician makes impossible things happen to objects, like a card that vanishes and turns up somewhere it cannot be. A mentalist seems to read minds: thought-of words, names and choices. I do both, so your guests get a mix of sleight of hand and mind reading.

Question 11

Do my guests have to take part?

Accepted Answer

Only if they want to. I read each group before I start, and nobody is made the butt of a joke. Plenty of guests are just as happy watching their friends' faces.

Question 12

Is the magic suitable for all ages?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I pitch every trick to the people in front of me, from children to grandparents.

Question 13

How much is the Magic Mirror photo booth?

Accepted Answer

On its own, the Magic Mirror is £325 for three hours, with an attendant, props, unlimited sessions and two prints of every session, or £395 with up to six prints of every photo. It is also part of Twilight Entertainment (£550) and The Full Wedding Package (£850).

Question 14

How many photos can our guests take?

Accepted Answer

As many as they like. Sessions are unlimited, and every session prints two copies, one for your guests to keep and one for your album. If you book the Mirror on its own for £395, every photo can print up to six copies.

Question 15

How do our guests get the digital copies?

Accepted Answer

Every print has a QR code. Your guests scan it with their phone to download and share the photos from the evening, and they can also have their photos sent to an email address.

Question 16

How much space and power does the Magic Mirror need?

Accepted Answer

Room for the mirror, a props table and a group of friends posing in front of it, and one standard plug socket close by. Tell me about your room when you check your date and I will make sure it works with your venue.

Question 17

Can we have a green screen?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Green screen is available as an add-on for £75. It lets your guests swap the room behind them for a different background.

Question 18

Who looks after the Magic Mirror on the day?

Accepted Answer

A dedicated attendant looks after it, helping your guests choose their props, strike a pose and collect their prints.

Question 19

When in the day do you perform?

Accepted Answer

Wherever it helps most, in the natural gaps around the wedding breakfast. Popular times are the drinks reception, while you are having your photographs taken, while the room is turned round and as evening guests arrive. I do not perform during the meal itself. Once the dancing starts, the Magic Mirror takes over.

Question 20

Will you interrupt the wedding breakfast or the speeches?

Accepted Answer

No. I do not perform during the wedding breakfast or the speeches. I plan my timings with you and your venue and fill the natural gaps around them: the drinks reception, your photographs, the room turnaround and the early evening.

Question 21

Can you perform just for our evening guests?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Some couples book me for a few hours in the evening, to welcome the evening guests and fill the gap while the room is turned round. My Twilight Entertainment package adds the Magic Mirror and the Audio Guestbook. Tell me your timings when you check your date.

Question 22

Do you need a stage, a table or power?

Accepted Answer

Not for the close-up magic. I come to your guests wherever they are, at the bar, on the terrace or in the evening room. The Magic Mirror photo booth is different and needs a power socket nearby.

Question 23

Can our photographer follow you round?

Accepted Answer

Yes, please ask them to. Guests' faces at the moment of a reveal make some of the best natural photographs of the day.

Question 24

Are you insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I am a member of Equity, the performers' union, with full public liability insurance, and my equipment is PAT tested every year. I am happy to send the details to your venue.
